“Georgiana Barzey from ABC has been my 6-year-old son’s behavioural consultant for the past year and we have nothing but praise for her. Our son has complex needs including a diagnosis of autism and learning difficulties and challenging behaviours. Georgiana was recommended by other parents who have an autistic child. She appealed to us due to her all-around understanding of autistic behaviour and her in-depth knowledge of SCERTS and ABA amongst other teachings. Her approachable nature and professionalism were also very appealing. Our son’s program commenced with a lengthy and in-depth assessment looking at all areas of his life including school and home. The assessments identified key triggers for his negative behaviours and based on these, Georgiana put together a comprehensive program and targets to address these issues. The progress Felix has made over the year has been incredible. Georgiana has led a wonderful team including the school, a speech & language therapist, an occupational therapist and ourselves. At all times she has been conscious of the other experts involved and worked with them to ensure that his overall program is well-rounded and the targets set as a whole are achievable. “Georgiana Barzey was employed as a senior tutor for a period of approximately 3 years( 2009-2012) on our son’s programme which was initially based on the VB model before moving to SCERTS educational model. Georgie’s duties involved the planning, implementation and evaluation of strategies to achieve targets within the programme in a team environment and under instruction by a US consultant. Her duties were carried out both at school and in the home environment. Also included in her employment description was the preparation and development of data to evaluate our son’s progress, and to develop ongoing teaching resources which focused on social skills and language development, emotional regulation and academic skills. Georgi also assisted us in liaising with teachers and our son’s school and other agencies to support and train in our programme. Furthermore, when we moved to Sydney, Georgi flew out to Sydney to assist in the training of new tutors and his teacher and presented an overview to the school to facilitate our son’s transition. This proved to be invaluable in our son’s transition and continued progress. Georgi proved herself to be an invaluable, intelligent and committed member of my son’s team, who consistently excelled in her professionalism, innovation and skill. We would have continued to work with Georgi if we had remained in London. We remain in contact with Georgi at both a professional and friendship level, and we are very grateful for the difference she made to our son’s outcomes, both academically and socially. “We have engaged Georgiana Barzey as a consultant to help our seven-year-old son with social difficulties that have arisen over the past year. Georgiana has been advising us since January 2012 and from the outset has provided outstanding support and expertise in both analysing and supporting Oscar’s challenges. Not only did Georgiana assess our son in a manner we felt was both thorough and sensitive but she provided much-needed support on short notice while enabling us to put a long-term solutions in place. Our son’s program combines Georgiana’s ABA and SCERTS expertise. We have employed her to liaise with our son’s school where she has informed and trained staff on how best to deal with any situations that arise.
